Eco-Justice Ministries encourages people in Colorado to vote YES on two ballot initiatives this fall. Amendment 37 deals with renewable energy; Initiative 4a with public transportation. Passage of these two initiatives will preserve valuable resources, and improve our quality of life.

| Renewable Energy - Amendment 37 |
The renewable energy proposal requires that the major electric utilities in Colorado generate defined percentages of their electricity from renewable sources like wind and solar power. The levels start at 3% in 2007, and reach 10% by 2015.
Legislatures in 16 other states have passed similar requirements, and many of those states are ahead of schedule in meeting their target levels.
The implementation of a renewable energy portfolio in Colorado will:

FasTracks will expand and improve the public transportation infrastructure in the Regional Transportation District. A small sales tax increase (4¢ on $10) will build new rail lines, improve the bus network, and add new transit stations and Park-n-Ride facilities.
The transit options provided by this build-out over the next 12 years will conserve energy, reduce air pollution and sprawl, and provide better transit services to the diverse population of the metro area, including the poor, elderly and disabled.
