November 28, 2008 US and Worldwide Buy Nothing Day

The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year in the US. Buy Nothing Day is a grassroots campaign that uses this day of frenzied buying to question and challenge the unsustainable consumer binge of Western nations. Buy Nothing Day can be an effective way for churches to emphasize the spiritual meaning of the Christmas season over the material.

Posters, "gift exemption certificates," and suggestions for protest activities are available on the Adbusters website, adbusters.org/campaigns/bnd/
