Eco-Justice Ministries is looking for people who will share their time and talents, their knowledge and skills, their insights and their expertise, to help broaden and strengthen this ministry with churches. Listed below are some options for volunteers to be involved.
These volunteer opportunities range from one-time projects to ongoing commitments. They can be done from almost anywhere; you don't need to be near our Denver office to help out! If you'd like to help with any of these projects -- or be involved in other ways that are not listed -- please contact Peter Sawtell, the Executive Director of Eco-Justice Ministries. |

Resources for Liturgy
Writing poetic and powerful words for liturgy is a special gift. Clergy and worship planners are hungry for fresh and creative resources.
Music for Worship
Music has a remarkable power to touch the spirit. Worship is one of the few places in our society where people sing together, and where they routinely listen to live music.
Web Scroungers
The Internet has a wealth of resources and information related to eco-justice (from theological writings to simple living guides to critiques of globalization to environmental studies to sites maintained by activist organizations to ... you get the idea!). We're always looking for good sites to add to our links pages.
Briefing Papers
An eco-justice perspective needs to be applied to the multitudes of specific issues that we encounter in the world. Those issues are usually complex and can be overwhelming to clergy and laity without expertise in a specific field. Eco-Justice Ministries hopes to produce a series of briefing papers that will make these issues accessible to a wide range of people.
Some of the possible themes for briefing papers would be:
The briefing papers should be short (4 or 5 pages at the most), and should not present a highly-politicized slant on the subject. They should point to sources for more information, provide a theological/ethical rationale, and suggest ways of taking action or being involved. (Denominational resolutions may provide a good starting point for developing a briefing paper.)
Anyone interested in helping to develop a briefing paper is encouraged to contact Eco-Justice Ministries to discuss the project in more detail.
Grant Writing
Eco-Justice Ministries (like every other non-profit agency!) needs donations and grants to underwrite our important work. We're always looking for leads on foundations, church mission funds, and major donors who might be interested in the sort of work that we do with churches.
Please contact us if you have leads on donors and/or if you have a good track record in writing grant applications!
